Hilary Duff has had to make major adjustments to accommodate longtime boyfriend Joel Madden lifestyle and insists compromising is the key to their successful relationship.

The actriss and singer isn't legally allowed to drink in the U.S. until she is 21 years old, but claims she still likes to party occasionally.

Hilary said:

He's been clean for two years, and that's something I deal with. It's just that it makes him a little bit different.

Sometimes I'm the one who's like, 'Let's go out! Let's go out!' and he's like, 'No, I don't want to. Let's stay in.' "I think that the way people think his personality should be is more like mine. It's like we're reversed!
